Parks & Recreation

About Us

The Walton County Parks and Recreation Department was established in October of 2002 to provide recreation services for the entire county. An agreement was made between the Board of Commissioners and the Cities of Monroe, Social Circle and Loganville, as each of these cities had existing departments and facilities.

The cities made lease and use agreements with the County for the existing parks and facilities on an individual basis. The Board of Commissioners hired a Director, (Jody Johnson) who incorporated the existing personnel from the city departments into the new countywide department.

Mission Statement

The mission of Parks and Recreation is to provide quality parks and leisure activities to the citizens of Walton County. Through the commitment and vision of Walton County residents and the Commissioners, Walton County parks will continue to grow.

All of Walton County Parks and Recreation are committed to building on this in the future, and look forward to finding new ways to meet your recreational needs.
